Overview

In DNIF, the index is used to store the data that is collected by the database. As the index gets auto closed after the retention period. Any data that is older than that prescribed in the retention period will be available offline, but won’t be visible or available for query within the web console. But these closed indices still will be available on the datastore and utilizes the disk. This can cause excessive utilization of the disk, as once the retention period is over we can delete the indices which are in a closed state. Also, if we have taken a backup of the indices then we can delete those indices and free up the disk space.

Procedure

  • To understand the retention policy, follow the below link

  • The DNIF Web Console is available centrally at go.dnif.it and if you have a local UNET then use that URL. Use your authentication details and your OTP to sign in. The OTP is valid for 30 seconds and the authentication process has to be completed before the OTP expires.

  • Go to the Management Tab on DNIF Console

Once the index is deleted from the database, it will be non-recoverable until and unless a backup is available for the same index.
